About Fathom Sea Battle
The charts are yours, the enemy's are blank. Twenty-four admirals wait across six seas, from the harbor mouth to the open ocean, and each one hunts, hides and bluffs in a way you learn to read before the last shot.
A sea battle game with hidden fleets: a campaign of 24 admirals across six seas, Classic, Salvo and Command rules, and online matches with a friend.
How to play Fathom Sea Battle
Deploy your fleet first: drag each ship onto your waters, tap a placed ship to turn it, or press Auto, then press Ready. Then take turns firing at the enemy chart: a white splash is a miss, fire is a hit, and a ship is announced when every square of it is hit. Sink the whole enemy fleet before yours goes down. Choose the rules on the title screen. Classic: one shot a turn, and with Shoot again a hit fires once more. Salvo: pick one square for each of your ships still afloat, then fire them together. Command: every ship carries one ability you can use instead of a shot while it floats. The carrier's recon plane reads four squares in a row, the dreadnought puts out a decoy buoy that soaks up a shot, the cruiser fires twin guns, the submarine's torpedo runs along a row or column from the edge until it hits something, and the destroyer's sonar counts the ship squares in a 3 by 3 area. The campaign has six seas of four battles, each against an admiral with a style of their own; beat a battle to open the next. Islands block ships and stop torpedoes, a ship that sinks in fog is not announced, a mine sends its blast back to your own waters on the same square, and later charts take irregular shapes. Each battle has three stars: win, win with 40% accuracy, and win with two ships afloat. To play a friend, choose Play with a friend, pick the rules and the sea, and send the link.

Features
Campaign of 24 admirals
Six seas of four battles each, every admiral with a firing style and a way of hiding the fleet, from a careless ensign to a fleet admiral who reads every clue.
A new hazard in every sea
Islands that block ships and torpedoes, fog banks where sinks go unannounced, mines that blast your own waters, irregular atoll charts and a 12 by 12 ocean with seven ships.
Classic, Salvo and Command
One shot a turn, a salvo of one shot per ship afloat, or Command rules where each ship class carries a one-time ability: recon plane, decoy, twin guns, torpedo and sonar.
Stars, missions and a daily battle
Three stars per battle, 20 missions, hard mode once the Coral Archipelago is cleared, and a daily battle that is the same for every player.

Tips
- Fire in a checkerboard while you hunt: every ship is at least two squares long, so half the squares cover the whole chart.
- After a hit, fire at the four squares around it; after a second hit in a line, keep going along that line in both directions.
- Mark squares in your head that cannot hold the smallest ship still afloat: a gap of one square between misses is empty once the destroyers are gone.
- In fog, a sunk ship is not announced: keep firing along a line of hits until both ends are misses or islands.
- In Command rules, sink the destroyer and the carrier early: their sonar and recon plane go down with them if they have not been used.
Frequently asked questions
How do I place my ships?
Drag each ship from the dock onto your waters, or tap it and then tap a square. Tap a placed ship to turn it, or press Auto to place the whole fleet at once. Ships cannot sit on islands and cannot overlap.
What is the difference between Classic, Salvo and Command?
Classic gives one shot a turn. Salvo gives one shot for each of your ships still afloat, fired together. Command gives one shot a turn, and each ship can use its ability once instead of a shot while it floats.
Why was a ship not announced when I sank it?
In fog banks, a ship that goes down with any square inside the fog sinks without an announcement. All sinks are shown once the battle ends.
What happens when I shoot a mine?
Its blast comes back to your own waters on the same square: if one of your ships sits there, it takes a hit.
Can I play against a friend?
Yes. Choose Play with a friend on the title screen, pick the rules and the sea, create the game and send the link. Each player only sees the other fleet where it has been found.
Does Fathom Sea Battle save my progress?
