About Jackdaw Crazy Eights
The coast road runs past eight harbour towns, and every one keeps a card table: a bench by the ferry ramp, a net loft, a rope walk, a tide mill, a salt market, the night ferry, the clock house and the lighthouse. Each table has regulars with their own habits and one house rule the last town never played, and a win at one sends you on to the next.
Crazy Eights and Mau-Mau against computer rivals or two to four friends online: stacking sevens, last-card calls, eight tables and a daily deal.
How to play Jackdaw Crazy Eights
Everyone gets seven cards with two players, five with three or four. On your turn play a card that matches the top of the discard pile by suit or by rank; tap it or drag it onto the pile. With nothing to play, draw from the stock: in Crazy Eights you draw until a card fits, in Mau-Mau you draw one. A drawn card that fits may be played at once or kept. In Crazy Eights the eights are wild: they go on anything and you name the next suit. In Mau-Mau the jacks are wild, a seven makes the next player draw two, an eight skips them and an ace reverses the direction of play. With stacking on, a seven can answer a seven and the total passes to the next player. With the last-card rule, tap Last card before you play your second-to-last card, or you draw two. The first player to empty their hand wins the hand and scores the cards left in everyone else's: an eight 50 in Crazy Eights, a jack 20 in Mau-Mau, kings, queens and jacks 10, the rest their face value. The match ends when someone reaches the target. The tour has eight tables, each adding a rule: the last-card call, Mau-Mau action cards, stacking, sevens that swap hands, two decks with jump-in, a ten-second turn clock and a queen of spades that draws five. Keys: Tab and the arrow keys move between cards and buttons, Enter plays, D draws, K keeps a drawn card, L calls last card. To play friends online, press Play with a friend, pick two to four players and the rules, and send the link; bots fill the empty seats.

Tips
- Keep your wild card for when you cannot follow, or for the play that takes you down to your last card.
- When you name a suit, name the one you hold most of, not the one you like.
- If a player drew instead of following a suit, they are probably short of it: change to that suit when you can.
- Hold a seven when stacking is on: it turns a stack aimed at you into a bigger one for the next player.
- Play your high cards and wild cards before a rival goes out: every card left in your hand is scored against you.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Crazy Eights and Mau-Mau here?
In Crazy Eights only the eights are special: they go on anything and name the next suit, and with nothing to play you draw until a card fits. In Mau-Mau the jacks are wild, a seven makes the next player draw two, an eight skips the next player, an ace reverses the direction, and with nothing to play you draw one card.
What happens if I forget to call last card?
At tables with the last-card rule, a Last card button appears on your turn when you hold two cards. Tap it before you play; if you play down to one card without it, you draw two cards.
How does stacking work?
With stacking on, a player hit by a seven can answer with another seven instead of drawing, and the next player then owes four, and so on. Whoever cannot or will not answer takes the whole total.
Can I play Jackdaw Crazy Eights with friends?
Yes. Press Play with a friend, pick two, three or four players and the rules, and send the link. Anyone who opens it takes a seat, and bots play the seats nobody took. Online matches use one deck and count toward no mission or tour table.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Tap a card to play it or drag it onto the pile, and tap the stock or the Draw button to draw. The hand splits into two rows when it grows, so every card stays readable.
Does the game save my progress?
Yes, your tour progress, card backs and a match in progress save on this device. To move them to another phone or computer, use Sync devices and enter the code it gives you, no account needed.
