About Gabion Squad Shooter
The Murk came up out of the old workings and walks the valley roads toward the towns. You lead a Gabion squad: a handful of gunners and whatever the supply barrels on the road hold, one road at a time from Barley Lane to Gale Harbour.
Steer a squad of gunners up a road, shoot number barrels open for more gunners and better guns, and hold the line against a horde. 40 stages.
How to play Gabion Squad Shooter
Your gunners stand at the bottom of the road and fire straight ahead on their own; you only move them left and right. Barrels roll toward you with a number on them: every hit takes the number down, and at zero the barrel opens and pays what its lid shows (more gunners, a better gun, a tank, a sentry turret, a frost burst, a shield or salvage). An opened barrel also bursts and hurts every creature around it, so opening one as the horde walks past it clears the horde. Every creature that reaches your line takes gunners with it; lose them all and the stage is lost. Clear every creature (on boss stages, the boss) to clear the stage, then spend salvage on upgrades in the depot.

Features
40 stages in five worlds
Barley Lane, Saltpan Causeway, Rime Pass, Ember Gorge and Gale Harbour, eight stages each, every world with new creatures, new barrels and a boss.
Barrels that burst
Every barrel bursts when it opens, so the moment you open it decides how much of the horde it takes with it.
Six guns
Spark Pistol, Twin Repeater, Scattergun, Arc Rifle, Rocket Pod and Prism Beam, each with its own shots and sound.
Depot upgrades
Spend salvage on eight upgrades between stages: more starting gunners, fire rate, damage, burst power, a gabion wall on your line and more.
Stars, hard mode and a daily road
Three stars per stage, a hard mode once Barley Lane is cleared, and one endless daily road with the same loadout for everyone.
Tips
- Open barrels when creatures walk past them: the burst counts every creature in reach, and three or more in one burst score extra.
- A barrel touching another barrel knocks it down when it bursts, so in a barrel train open the front one last when the train is about to reach a pack.
- Weapon barrels matter more than gunners early on: the Scattergun hits three columns, and Shellbacks only take half damage from the first two guns.
- Rally gates often start below zero: keep shooting one until its number is positive before it reaches you, or step out from under it.
- Spitters stop and throw goo at your squad; a ring on the road shows where it lands, and moving out of the ring costs you nothing.
Frequently asked questions
How do I move the squad?
Drag left or right anywhere on the screen on a phone, move the mouse on a computer, or use the arrow keys or A and D. The squad fires on its own.
What do the numbers on the barrels mean?
The big number is how much damage the barrel still takes before it opens. The icon above it shows what it holds.
Why did my squad shrink?
Every creature that reaches your line takes one or more gunners with it, goo from a Spitter takes two, and walking under a rally gate below zero takes that many.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Cleared stages, stars, salvage and upgrades are kept on your device, and the site's device sync can move them to another one.
What changes in hard mode?
The horde has 60% more health and walks 12% faster. Hard mode has its own stars per stage.
