About Vallum Tower Defense
Every dry season the shellbacks crawl out of the salt flats and follow the old roads toward the valley. You hold the vallum, the last earthwork before the villages, with four kinds of towers and the gold their shells are worth.
Hold the wall on eight short maps, then in Endless mode. Build four kinds of towers on stone pads, upgrade each twice and earn up to three stars per map.
How to play Vallum Tower Defense
Tap or click a stone pad beside the road to open the build ring, then pick a tower; on touch, tap the choice again to confirm. Tap a built tower to upgrade it, sell it for 70% of the gold spent on it, or switch its target between the first enemy on the road and the strongest; the Frost tower slows everything in reach and has no target to switch. Press Start to send the first wave; later waves come on their own, and calling one early pays bonus gold. You start with 20 lives. Most enemies that reach the wall cost one, a shellback costs 2 and a boss 10. Clear all waves to win the map: 18 or more lives kept earns three stars, 10 or more earns two, fewer earns one. Maps unlock in order; winning map 7 unlocks map 8 and Endless mode. Space calls the next wave, F switches between normal and double speed. Splitters release three mites where they fall, so kill them well before the wall. Clearing map 4 unlocks hard mode, where every enemy has 15% more health.

Eight campaign maps
Three settings, meadow, steppe and frost, get harder as you go. Clear the eighth map to unlock Endless mode.

Seven enemy types
Slow walkers, fast runners, armored shellbacks, flying moths, and splitters that drop three mites when killed lead up to a boss on every fifth wave.
Hard mode
Clearing map 4 unlocks it: every enemy on every map gets 15% more health.
Play on phone or desktop
A portrait layout for holding the phone upright and a landscape layout for wider screens, with towers built by tap or click.
Tips
- Put your first towers on pads that touch two stretches of road: a pad inside a bend covers the road twice.
- Mortars cannot hit moths; keep a Needle or a Lance near the exit before the first flying wave arrives.
- Armour takes a flat amount off every hit, so light Needle shots lose the most against shellbacks and bosses while Lance shots ignore it; a Lance is built on Strong, so leave it there for bosses.
- Place Frost towers where the road bends past your Mortars: slowed enemies bunch up and every shell hits more of them.
- Call a wave early only when the road is clear; the bonus gold is worth less than the lives a crowded road costs.
Frequently asked questions
How many maps does Vallum have?
Eight, across three settings: meadow, steppe and frost. Winning the eighth unlocks Endless mode, where waves keep coming until your wall falls.
What's the best tower against shellbacks and bosses?
Armor cuts a flat amount off every hit, so a Needle's light shots lose the most value against it. The Lance tower ignores armor and hits ground and flying enemies alike, making it the strongest single answer to shellbacks and bosses; a Frost tower nearby slows them so your other towers land more hits.
Is Vallum hard?
Enemy health rises with every wave, and a boss arrives on every fifth wave. Splitters make it worse: killing one drops three mites right where it fell. Clearing map 4 unlocks hard mode, which adds another 15% health to every enemy.
Does Vallum save my progress?
Yes, your stars on each map and your best Endless wave save on this device automatically. To keep the same progress on another phone or computer, use Sync devices and enter the code it gives you, no account needed.
Can I play Vallum on my phone?
Yes, it has a portrait layout for holding the phone upright and a landscape layout for wider screens, and towers go down with a tap.
