About Bocage Land Grab
The common land of the valley is being enclosed, one hedge at a time. Six farms race to plant theirs first, and a hedge that is still open is fair game for anyone who walks through it.
Leave your field, draw a hedge line and loop back to claim the land inside. Cut rival lines, root your own, and hold the most of the map.
How to play Bocage Land Grab
You start on a small plot of your own land. Steer your marker off it and it lays an open hedge line behind it; bring it back onto your land and the line closes: the line and everything it encloses become your field, even land that belonged to a rival. While your line is open you are exposed: if any marker touches it, or you run into it yourself, you lose every field you hold and start again on a fresh plot. The same goes for your rivals, so cross their open lines to cut them. Every 150 squares you claim grow a root (you start with one and hold up to three); press Root while your line is open and the whole line turns into land at once, with anything it now encloses. A round lasts two to two and a half minutes; the most land when the clock runs out wins, and reaching the stage's share of the map wins at once. Seven arenas of four stages each add brooks and bridges, orchard trees, fast droves, ice, mist and windmill sails.

Features
Seven arenas, 28 stages
Commons, Millbrook, Orchard, Drove Roads, Mere, Mistmoor and Windmill Hill each have four stages, and each arena brings its own shape and its own rule.
Root your line
Claimed land grows roots, up to three at a time. One press turns your open line into land on the spot: an escape, a road into open ground or a cut straight through a rival field.
Six rival personalities
Tender, Surveyor, Raider, Poacher, Gambler and Warden each claim and attack in their own way, and later stages field sharper rivals.
Play with friends
Two to six people share one arena, with rivals filling the field to six markers, in 150 second rounds. Send a link to start: no account, and a rival takes over if someone leaves.
Daily round and hard mode
The daily round puts everyone in the same arena against the same rivals. Clearing Commons opens hard mode, with two more rivals and roots that grow at half speed.
Eight crops to sow
Every arena you clear opens a new crop for your fields, from Flax to Teal, each with its own colour and rows.
Tips
- Keep loops short while a rival is near: the time your line stays open is the time you can be cut.
- A root is a panic button and a road: root a long straight line out into open ground, then sweep safe loops off it.
- Loop through a rival's field to steal it; if your new land closes over their open line, they lose everything.
- Watch the Raider: it hunts open lines within reach, so close yours before it turns toward you.
- On ice you cannot steer, so step onto a pond only on the heading you want to keep.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when my line is cut?
You lose every field you hold and come back after two and a half seconds on a fresh plot somewhere free. The round goes on, so you can still win.
Which land do I get when I close a loop?
Your line itself and every square it encloses, including squares that belonged to rivals. A rival whose open line was inside is cut.
How do I get roots?
Every 150 squares you claim grow one root, and you can hold three. In the Orchard a tree inside your land also bears fruit every 45 seconds, and fruit is one more root.
How do I play on a phone?
Put a finger anywhere on the field and slide it the way you want to go; your marker turns toward it and keeps going when you lift. Tap Root with another finger while you steer.
Is my progress saved?
Cleared stages, crops and best scores stay on this device, and the site's device sync can move them to another one.
