About Ashlar Bomber
The old masonry yards have filled with stray creatures and stacked crates. A quarry mason with a satchel of charges works through five yards, from the kiln to the clock tower, and finds that whatever a blast catches burns on as a cinder.
Drop bombs in a stone maze and catch enemies in one blast: each one leaves a cinder that bursts again. 30 stages, five bosses and an arena.
How to play Ashlar Bomber
Move through the grid with the arrow keys or WASD, or with the stick on a phone. Press Space, or tap Bomb, to drop a bomb on your tile. After 2.5 seconds it bursts along its row and column, stops at steel, breaks the first block it reaches and sets off any bomb it touches. Step out of its cross in time, because the blast hurts you too. An enemy caught in a blast leaves a cinder that bursts 0.7 seconds later; its cross is marked on the floor. The first kill of a chain bursts 2 tiles, the next 3, then 4 and 5, and each kill scores its value times its place in the chain. Blocks hide power-ups and the exit; the exit opens once every enemy is gone. Every sixth stage is a boss, and cinder blasts hit bosses twice as hard. In the arena, the last bomber standing takes the round and the first to 3 rounds wins; a fallen bomber leaves a cinder too.

Features
Chains that grow
Every enemy caught in a blast becomes a cinder that bursts again 0.7 seconds later. Its reach grows from 2 to 5 tiles along a chain, and the score multiplier climbs with every kill.
30 stages in five worlds
Kiln Yard, Copper Mine, Frost Works, Glass Foundry and Clock Observatory each add a floor mechanic (belts, ice, wall vents, pads) and two new enemy kinds.
Five bosses
The Kiln Warden, Drill Foreman, Frost Matron, Furnace Heart and Clockmaker each fight differently, and cinder blasts hit them twice as hard.
Arena against 1 to 3 rivals
Five arena maps, first to 3 round wins, critters that leave cinders, and walls that close in after 90 seconds.
Stars, daily stage and hard mode
Earn up to 3 stars per stage, play one shared daily stage, and unlock hard mode with faster enemies and two lives per stage.
Tips
- Puffs drift toward each other: wait for two or three to bunch up, then blast one and its cinder reaches the rest.
- Moths fly toward lit fuses, so a bomb near a crossing gathers them for you.
- After a kill, step out of the cinder's marked cross as well as the bomb's.
- A Shellback's brass face blocks a blast coming straight at it; bomb it from the side or from behind.
- Against a boss, blast its minions while they stand next to it: cinder blasts deal double damage.
Frequently asked questions
What is a cinder?
When a blast catches an enemy, it leaves a glowing cinder that bursts 0.7 seconds later in a cross marked on the floor. The first kill of a chain bursts 2 tiles; each further kill reaches one tile more, up to 5.
Can my own bombs hurt me?
Yes. Bomb blasts, cinders, vent fire and boss attacks all hurt you, so step out of every marked cross. A Shield power-up absorbs one hit.
Why does the exit not open?
The exit opens only when every enemy on the stage is gone, including a boss's helpers.
How do I play on a phone?
Hold the stick at the bottom left to move and tap Bomb at the bottom right. Both work together with two thumbs, in portrait or landscape.
Is my progress saved?
Reached stages, stars and best scores stay on this device. The stage panel lets you start a run from any stage you have reached.
How does the arena work?
You face 1 to 3 AI bombers on one of five maps. The last one standing takes the round, and the first to win 3 rounds wins the match.
