About Heartwood Knife Throw
In a woodcutter's yard at the edge of a northern forest, apprentices earn their place by splitting logs with thrown knives. Each log turns in a new way, and every fifth one is a keeper's test: an iron-bound wheel, a millstone, a war shield.
Throw knives into a spinning log. Stick them all to split it, but never hit a knife already in the wood. Every fifth stage is a boss target.
How to play Heartwood Knife Throw
Tap, click or press Space to throw a knife from the bottom of the screen. It sticks where it lands and turns with the log. Hit a knife that is already stuck and the run ends; from the third stage on, some logs start with knives already in them. Stick every knife of the stage to split the log and move on. The log spins in new ways as you go: faster, speeding up and slowing down, reversing, stopping and starting. Every fifth stage is a boss with its own look and pattern. Throws that land close to another knife score a bonus that grows while you keep landing them. Fruit and gems on the rim give extra points and coins, and collecting all of them from a log that carries two or more adds a rim bonus. Coins are never spent: new knife styles unlock as your coin total grows, and you pick one with the arrows before your first throw. The daily challenge gives everyone the same stages for the day. Splitting the first boss opens hard mode: logs spin faster and every log starts with knives already in it.

Features
Boss every fifth stage
Every fifth stage is a boss log with its own look and spin pattern: an iron-bound wheel, a millstone, a war shield, and more as you climb further.
Logs that spin in new ways
As you advance, logs spin faster, speed up and slow down, reverse, and stop and start, so no two stages play out the same.
Knife styles unlocked by coins
Coins collected from fruit and gems on the rim never get spent: they add to a running total that unlocks new knife styles, picked with the arrows before your first throw.
Hard mode and daily challenge
Splitting the first boss log unlocks hard mode, where logs spin faster and every log starts with knives already stuck in it; the daily challenge gives everyone the same stages for the day.
Tips
- Watch the knives already in the log rather than the log itself, and throw when the widest gap is about to pass under it.
- On a log that stops and starts, throw during the pause: nothing moves under the impact point until it starts again.
- A reversing log slows down before it turns, so the moment of the turn gives you the longest safe window.
- The close-landing bonus grows with every close landing in a row, but one wrong throw ends the run, so chase it only while the log is slow.
- A knife that lands under a fruit or gem collects it, and its coins add to the total that unlocks the next knife style.
Frequently asked questions
How often does a boss stage show up?
Every fifth stage is a boss log, each with its own look and its own spin pattern.
What happens if I hit a knife that is already stuck?
The run ends immediately. From the third stage on, some logs start with knives already in them, so check before you throw.
How do I unlock hard mode?
Split the first boss log. Hard mode then spins logs faster and starts every log with knives already stuck in it.
Does Heartwood save my progress and coins?
Progress and your coin total are saved on the device you play on, no account exists. A sync code can move them to another device.
Can I play it on a phone?
Yes. Tap anywhere on the screen to throw a knife; on desktop, click or press Space instead.
