About Glissade Air Hockey
Six rooms, six tables, twenty-four people who think they own them. The basement club taught you the straight shot; the rest of the circuit only falls to a puck that bends.
Air hockey where the curve of your stroke spins the puck. 24 rivals in 6 venues, 2 players on one screen, or a real-time duel online.
How to play Glissade Air Hockey
Drag your mallet with a finger or move it with the mouse; it stays in your half of the table. Hit the puck into the slot at the far end and keep it out of yours. The first to 7 goals wins the match. The path of your stroke matters as well as its speed: a stroke that curves as it meets the puck sets it spinning, and a spinning puck bends the way your stroke bent and kicks off the rails at a new angle. A puck that stays in one half for 8 seconds goes to the other side. The campaign runs through six venues with four rivals each, and every venue changes the table: bumpers, slots in the corners, magnets under the surface, sliding gates and a faster surface. Beat a venue's champion to open the next one.
Controls
- Touch
- Drag your mallet with a finger; in a 2 player game each player drags in their own half.
- Mouse
- Move the mouse to steer your mallet; no button is needed.
- Keyboard
- WASD or the arrow keys move the mallet; in a 2 player game one player uses WASD and the other the arrow keys. Esc pauses.
Features
Spin from the stroke
A stroke that curves as it hits the puck makes it spin; the puck bends the same way and takes english off the rails. A goal scored on a bend is a curve goal and pays 60 extra points.
24 rivals in 6 venues
Rec Room, Bumper Bar, Boardwalk, Magnet Lab, Foundry and Night Final each have four rivals with their own style, from a keeper who waits in front of the slot to a spinner whose shots bend.
A new table in every venue
Rubber bumpers, two slots in the corners of each end, magnets that pull or push the puck, steel gates that slide across, and a fast surface for the final.
2 players on one screen
Each player holds one half of the table on a phone or tablet; on a keyboard one plays with WASD and the other with the arrow keys. Any of the six tables.
Real-time duel online
Send a link and play a friend in real time, first to 7. The puck in your half answers your mallet at once, and if someone leaves, a bot takes over their mallet.
Daily match and hard mode
The daily match is the same rival and table for everyone that day, ranked by match points. Beating the Rec Room champion opens hard mode, where rivals react faster and read your spin.
Tips
- Curve the stroke through the puck, not before it: the spin comes from the bend at the moment of the hit, so sweep the mallet in an arc as it meets the puck.
- Early rivals read only the straight line. Aim just wide of the slot and bend the puck back in, and their mallet sits where the puck no longer goes.
- When the puck comes back fast, stay between it and the slot and meet it with a short push forward; a mallet that waits still sends rebounds sideways into your own slot.
- A spinning puck kicks off the rail in the direction of its spin, so a bank shot with spin reaches the corner of the slot that a plain bank cannot.
- On the split-goal tables the middle of the end is wall: shoot at the corner farther from the rival's mallet.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make the puck curve?
Move your mallet in an arc as it hits the puck. The tighter and faster the arc at the moment of the hit, the more spin; a gold arc on your mallet's rim shows how much spin the stroke carries.
Can two people play on one phone?
Yes. Choose 2 players on the title screen and each player drags the mallet in their own half; both fingers work at the same time. On a computer the players use WASD and the arrow keys.
Why did the puck go to the other side?
A puck may stay in one half for 8 seconds. A ring around it fills up over the last 4 seconds, and when it closes the puck is served to the other player.
How do I open the next venue?
Beat the champion, the fourth rival of the current venue. Each rival opens once you beat the one before, and you can replay any rival you have reached to collect the missing stars.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, on this device: the rivals you have beaten, your stars, missions and best match points stay, and the site's device sync can move them to another device.
What happens if my friend disconnects in an online match?
A bot takes their mallet at once, so the match never stops, and your friend takes it back where the bot has it as soon as they reconnect.
