About Marram Territory
The dunes are winning ground back from the sea, one sand fence at a time. Waves roll loose in the shallows and snap any fence still open. Close yours first, and the water behind it turns to marram grass and sand.
Lay fences across the sea and claim every pocket with no waves in it. Trap a wave in a small pocket to tame it. 40 stages on 5 coasts, or duel a friend.
How to play Marram Territory
You start on the shore around the sea. Move off the shore and your cutter lays a fence behind it; out on the water it keeps going in the last direction you chose, and you can turn but not reverse. Reach land again and the fence closes: every part of the sea that has no wave in it turns to land, and a bigger claim scores more for each square. If a wave touches your open fence or your cutter, or you run into your own fence, you lose a life and the fence is gone. A pocket that holds a wave but is no bigger than the gold square in the corner is claimed anyway, and the wave inside turns tame: it jumps back into the open sea, gold, for ten seconds, and every wave it touches stands still for six. Still waves cannot hurt your fence, do not keep a pocket open, and are swept up for a bonus by your next claim. Claim the stage's share of the sea to clear it.

Features
40 stages on 5 coasts
Sandbar, Saltmarsh, Skerries, Squall Coast and Ebb Flats each have eight stages, and every coast adds its own setting and its own rule.
Tame a wave
Close a pocket no bigger than the gold square around a wave and it turns tame for ten seconds, stilling every wave it touches for six.
Claims that grow with size
Every square claimed scores more when one fence claims more: a tenth of the sea at once doubles the points, a third of it quadruples them.
Crabs, islets, squalls and borers
Crabs walk the land, rock islets close a fence that reaches them, squalls turn toward your fence and borers gnaw claimed land back into sea.
Daily tide and hard mode
The daily tide is the same six stages for everyone that day. Claiming the first coast opens hard mode, with faster waves and smaller taming pockets.
Play with a friend
Two players share one sea and race to claim it, best of three tides. A wave you tame turns to your side and snaps the rival's fence. Send a link to start: no account, and a bot takes over if someone leaves.
Tips
- Start with short fences along the shore; the claim multiplier makes one big fence worth more than many small ones, but only once you can read where the waves will bounce.
- A wave near a corner or an islet is the easiest to tame: two short sides of fence close a pocket around it.
- When a tamed wave stills two or three others, cross the sea right away: still waves cannot snap the fence and get swept up by the claim.
- On land, crabs follow the shore. Step onto the water to get away from one; it cannot follow you there.
- Squalls turn toward the end of your fence, so cut away from them and keep the fence short while one is close.
Frequently asked questions
Which side of my fence becomes land?
Every part of the sea that has no wave in it. If your fence splits the water into three parts and only one holds waves, the other two both turn to land.
How do I tame a wave?
Close a fence so that the wave sits in a pocket no bigger than the gold square shown next to the field. The pocket turns to land, and the wave jumps out into the open sea as a tamed wave for ten seconds.
How do I play on a phone?
Put a finger anywhere on the screen and drag it the way you want to go; drag again to turn. On land the cutter stops when you lift your finger, out on the water it keeps going.
Why can I not turn back while cutting?
The cutter would run into its own fence. Turn left or right instead, then head back to the shore.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, on this device. Every coast you claim opens as a starting point for later runs, and your missions and best scores stay too.
Can I play Marram against a friend?
Yes. Choose Play with a friend on the title screen, pick a sea and share the link. You both lay fences on the same sea and race to claim 40% of it; win two of three tides to win the match. A wave you tame fights for you and snaps your rival's fence, and crossing their open fence cuts it. No account is needed, and if a player leaves, a bot plays for them until the match ends.
