About Shardfall Brick Breaker
A wall of fired glaze grows down from the ceiling of the kiln hall, one course at a time, and every course that reaches the dashed line costs you a life. You have a paddle, one ball and whatever each broken wave leaves behind. Every fifth course is held together by a molten core: crack it and the whole formation falls.
A brick breaker with upgrades. Clear a wave, pick one of three upgrades that stack for the run, and break a moving boss core every fifth wave.
How to play Shardfall Brick Breaker
Move your finger or mouse left and right to steer the paddle; arrow keys work too. Tap, click or press Space to launch the ball. Where the ball meets the paddle sets its angle: the edges send it out wide. The number on a brick is the hits it still needs. Steel bricks only give way to a burning ball, red bricks explode and white ones release an extra ball. After each wave choose one of three upgrades; they stack for the rest of the run. Every fifth wave a boss formation sways across the field: while its core is intact the bricks around it grow back, and breaking the core brings the whole thing down. Bricks creep down over time; when bricks cross the dashed line the wall is pushed back three rows, and you also lose a life unless the only thing that crossed was steel. You start with 3 lives and can hold up to 6; you lose one when the last ball in play is gone, and the run ends when no lives are left. The score multiplier goes up by one for every 6 bricks broken between paddle touches, up to x8. Breaking the first boss core opens hard mode, where you start with a single life.

Features
Eleven upgrades to pick from
Clearing a wave offers a choice of three upgrades out of eleven: extra balls, a piercing or heavier hit, a wider paddle, a chance for the ball to catch fire, a paddle magnet, side lasers, a slow zone near the paddle, an extra life, exploding shrapnel and a safety net. Whatever you pick stays for the rest of the run.
A boss every fifth wave
Every fifth wave, a moving formation with a glowing core sways across the field. The bricks around the core keep regrowing while it survives, so cracking the core is the only way through.
No fixed number of waves
Waves keep coming with no set end point; the ball speeds up and bricks take more hits as the wave count climbs, so how far a run goes depends on how it is played.
Daily challenge
A daily run gives every player the same wave layouts and boss patterns that day, so your score is measured against everyone else's run through the identical setup.
Hard mode
Breaking the first boss core unlocks hard mode, which starts a run with a single life instead of three.
Plays in portrait and landscape
Hold a phone upright for a tall column with the field, or turn the screen sideways and the field moves to the centre with the upgrade cards laid out beside it.
Tips
- Catch the ball near the paddle's edge to send it out wide; the centre sends it almost straight up.
- The score multiplier goes up by one for every 6 bricks broken between paddle touches, up to x8, so a ball bouncing around above the bricks is worth the most.
- Red bricks blow up their neighbours: break them when they sit inside a cluster of tough bricks.
- Steel never breaks for a normal ball and a wave ends when only steel is left, so aim around it unless the ball is burning.
- Bricks start creeping down after ten seconds; when the lowest row nears the dashed line, clear it before anything else.
Frequently asked questions
How many levels does Shardfall have?
There is no fixed count. Waves keep coming one after another with a new brick layout each time, and a boss wave shows up every fifth one. A run ends only when you are out of lives.
What makes the later waves harder?
The ball gets faster and bricks need more hits as the wave count rises, and every fifth wave adds a moving boss formation whose core regrows the bricks around it until you break it.
What do the upgrade cards actually do?
After each wave you pick one of three from eleven upgrades: extra balls, a piercing or heavier hit, a wider paddle, a chance for the ball to catch fire, a magnet that catches the ball on the paddle, side lasers, a slow zone near the paddle, an extra life, chain-reaction shrapnel from normal bricks, and a safety net that bounces the ball back a limited number of times each wave.
Does Shardfall save my progress?
Your stats and best score stay on this device. To bring them to a different device, use Sync devices and a code; no account is needed.
Can I play Shardfall on my phone?
Yes. It runs in portrait when the phone is held upright and switches to a landscape layout, with the field centred and the upgrade cards placed beside it, when the screen is wider than it is tall.
What is the Shardfall daily challenge?
Everyone gets the same wave layouts and the same boss patterns that day, so the daily score compares your run against other players' runs on the exact same setup.
