About Burl Bowling
Five alleys stand between you and the Championship Hall: a house shot on Maple Street, gold pins at the docks, odd racks in a cellar, sliding posts on a pier and tournament oil at the end. String two strikes together and the Burl ball, a heavy ball of figured wood, rolls for you.
3D ten-pin bowling with real scoring. Drag to bowl, bend the drag to hook; 30 lanes in 5 alleys, rivals, a daily lane and online games for up to 4.
How to play Burl Bowling
You bowl from the approach, looking down the lane. Drag down from the ball and let go: the further you pull, the faster the ball; the angle of the pull sets its line, and bending the drag puts hook on it (bow the drag to the left and the ball curves left). Drag the ball sideways first to change where you stand. The line on the lane shows where the ball will go. A pull past the red foul line on the gauge is a foul and counts no pins. Scoring is real ten-pin: a strike scores 10 plus your next two balls, a spare 10 plus your next ball, and the tenth frame gives bonus balls after a strike or a spare. Two strikes in a row light the Burl ball for your next frame: it is heavier and larger, so it deflects less off the head pin and carries more pins.

Features
Real ten-pin rules
Strikes, spares, splits, fouls and the tenth frame's bonus balls, on a score sheet that marks every frame as a scorer would.
Pins that fall like pins
Every pin wobbles, topples and knocks the next one down, bounces off the kickbacks and drops into the pit. Hit the pocket at an angle and the rack goes over.
Hook you control
Bend your drag to put side spin on the ball. The oil on the lane decides when it grabs: late on long oil, early on short oil, hard on a dry lane.
The Burl ball
Two strikes in a row, or a gold pin, light a heavier, larger ball for your next frame. It carries a wider pocket and stays lit while the strikes keep coming.
30 lanes in 5 alleys
Each alley brings a new room and a new rule: gold pins, odd racks from a diamond to a fifteen-pin pyramid, sliding posts and tournament oil, with rival duels along the way.
Rivals, daily lane and online games
Bowl a quick game against up to three rivals with their own styles, the same daily lane as everyone else, or send a link and bowl a full game with up to four friends.
Tips
- Aim for the pocket between the head pin and the pin behind it on the side your ball hooks from: a right-to-left hook wants the pocket on the right of the head pin.
- A ball that hits the head pin full on often leaves a split. Enter the pocket at an angle, and let the hook do the work in the last third of the lane.
- For a single corner pin, bowl across the lane with little or no hook: start on the far side and aim straight at the pin.
- Long oil makes the ball hook late and little; short oil makes it hook early. Move where you stand rather than changing everything at once.
- Keep your strikes coming once the Burl ball is lit: it stays lit for every frame that starts after another strike.
Frequently asked questions
How do I hook the ball?
Bend your drag as you pull back. Bow it to the left and the ball curves left; bow it to the right and it curves right. A straight drag throws a straight ball, and the line on the lane shows the curve before you let go.
What is the Burl ball?
A reward for strikes. Two strikes in a row light it for your next frame, and so does knocking down a gold pin. It is heavier and a little larger than your normal ball, so it deflects less and carries more pins. It stays lit for every frame that starts after another strike.
How does the scoring work?
It is real ten-pin scoring. A strike is worth 10 plus the pins of your next two balls, a spare 10 plus your next ball. In the tenth frame a strike earns two more balls and a spare one more. A perfect game is 300.
Why did my ball count zero?
You pulled past the red foul line on the speed gauge, which means you stepped over the foul line. A foul counts no pins; on a first ball the pins are set back up for your second.
Can I bowl with friends?
Yes. Choose Play with a friend, pick 2 to 4 bowlers, the oil and whether the Burl ball is in play, and send the link. Each bowler takes a whole frame in turn, and if someone leaves, a bot bowls for them.
Is my progress saved?
Yes, on this device: stars on every lane, the alleys you opened and your missions stay, and the site's device sync can move them to another device.
