About Tantara Rhythm Runner
Tantara is the call of a drum and a horn, and every course here is one song set in stone, rope and wind. Your lacquered piece cannot stop running, so the only way through is to keep time.
Jump to the beat across eight courses built on eight songs. Glide, flip gravity and dart through caves; on-beat jumps bank a Backspin.
How to play Tantara Rhythm Runner
Your piece runs right on its own. Tap anywhere, or press Space, the up arrow or W, to jump; holding keeps jumping each time you land. Every spike, block and gap sits on the music, so a jump on the beat is a jump that clears it, and each jump plays a note of the song's lead. Blocks are safe to land on but their sides are not. Pads throw you up by themselves; tap while inside a ring to jump again in the air. Gravity gates and gravity rings flip you to the ceiling and back. Through a glider gate, hold to climb and let go to sink; through a dart gate, hold to fly up and let go to dive at a steep angle. Speed gates change how fast you run, mini gates make you small with lower hops, cogs bite like spikes and the pistons of the last course rise on the beat. Eight jumps on the beat bank a Backspin, up to two: the next crash spins the song back to the last checkpoint and you play on instead of starting over, or tap the Backspin button (B or the down arrow) to go back for a chime you missed. A crash with nothing banked starts the course again. Practice puts you back at the last checkpoint after every crash. Each course hides three chimes, taken by an extra hop or a detour through a cave. A clear is scored by how many of the course's jumps you played on the beat. Clearing a course opens the next.

Features
Eight courses, eight songs
From desert house at 112 BPM to a 144 BPM summit run, each course has its own song, its own place and its own new mechanic.
Your jumps play the tune
Every jump is a note of the lead line; on the beat it rings out in full, off the beat it sounds muted.
Backspin
Eight jumps on the beat bank a Backspin, up to two. A crash then spins the song back to the last checkpoint instead of starting over.
Three ways to move
The jumping block, a glider that climbs while you hold and a dart that zigzags through caves, plus gravity, speed and mini gates.
Practice, hard mode and a daily remix
Practice with checkpoints, hard mode with the band 15% faster, and a daily course remixed from every level with a shared score.

Tips
- Listen before you look: every jump lands on a beat or the half beat between, so tapping along with the kick drum gets you over most spikes.
- Holding the jump makes the piece jump again the moment it lands, which is slightly faster than one beat; tap each jump yourself on rows of spikes.
- On three spikes in a row, jump exactly on the beat: the window is half as wide as for a single spike.
- In the glider, short taps keep you level; in the dart, the cave follows a line of quick ups and downs on the eighth notes.
- Save a Backspin for the last third of a course, where a crash would cost you the most.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play Tantara on a phone?
Yes. Tap anywhere on the screen to jump, and hold for the glider and the dart. It works upright and sideways.
Is my progress saved?
Your clears, chimes, stars, attempts and best runs are saved on your device and move to another one with the site's sync code. Banked Backspins stay on the device where you earned them.
What does a Backspin do?
When you have one banked, a crash spins the song back to the last checkpoint and you carry on from there. You earn one for every eight jumps on the beat and can hold two.
Why did I die landing on a block?
Blocks are safe only from above. Hitting a block's side, or its underside when you are not upside down, ends the attempt.
How do I open the next level?
Clear the current level in normal mode. Practice runs show your progress but do not open levels.
Does the music play without sound on?
The courses follow the song's beat even when muted, but the game is designed to be played with sound: the jumps are timed to it.
