About Azimuth Geography
Your chart table holds up to four clue cards and a box of pins. Every pin you push into the map is read by every card at once: how many kilometres to its place and toward which of the eight compass points. Find a place before it gives you any reading and you get the pin back.
Find countries, capitals, flags, rivers and landmarks on the world map. Every tap tells each open clue how far and which way. 54 stages and a daily voyage.
How to play Azimuth Geography
Each card names a place to find: a country by its name, its capital, its flag, its outline or its neighbours, a river, a landmark or a city. Tap the map where you think a place is. If the tap lands on it, the card is found and the next clue takes its place. If not, every open card shows how far its place is from your tap and which way it lies, and the selected card draws an arc on the map: its place lies somewhere along that arc. Tap a card to choose whose arcs you see. Every tap costs a pin; a place found before any reading gives its pin back, and a tap that lands on two places at once finds both. Find every place before the pins run out to clear the stage. Drag to move the map, pinch, scroll or use the plus and minus buttons to zoom.

Features
Nine chapters, 54 stages
Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia, the Ocean Rim, Great Rivers, Wonders, Cities at Night and a Grand Tour. Each chapter opens a new kind of clue: capitals, flags, neighbours, outlines, rivers, landmarks and cities.
Every tap reads every card
Up to four clues are open at once. One tap gives each of them a distance and a compass point, and draws the arc its place must lie on.
Pins, sharp finds and streaks
Each stage gives a set number of pins. A place found before any reading gives its pin back, and a run of them raises your points up to double.
Daily voyage and endless Voyage
Ten places a day, the same for everyone, with your result against the day's players. Voyage is endless: every find adds a pin and the places get harder.
Race a friend
Both players get the same 8 or 14 places and their own map. The first to find them all wins; when the clock runs out, more places found wins.
Tips
- Start with the card you know: the tap that finds it also gives every other card a reading.
- When no card is certain, tap between the cards' likely areas, so one tap narrows several searches.
- Two readings of the same card cross where its place is; tap where the arcs meet.
- Find places before any reading when you can: each one gives its pin back and builds a streak worth up to double points.
- Zoom in before tapping small countries and cities; a tap only counts on the place itself or very close to it.
Frequently asked questions
How is the distance measured?
Along the Earth's surface, from your tap to the nearest point of the place: the border of a country, the course of a river or the spot of a city or landmark. You can switch between kilometres and miles on the title screen.
Why did a tap next to a small country not count?
A tap counts when it lands inside the country or very close to its border; small countries have a little more room. Zoom in with a pinch, the scroll wheel or the plus button for small places.
What is a sharp find?
A place found before its card had any reading. It gives back the pin you used, and sharp finds in a row raise your points up to double.
How are borders drawn?
Borders are drawn as on a neutral world map. Disputed areas are hatched and belong to no country: they are never asked for, and a tap inside one does not count.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Stars, opened stages, a stage in progress and today's voyage stay on this device, and the site's device sync can move them to another one.
What changes in hard mode?
No arcs are drawn on the map, only the cards' distances and compass needles, and every stage starts with two pins fewer.
