About Bodkin Pull the Pin
Bodkin is the old pin-keeper of the waterworks under the hill, where a family of newts lives in the cisterns. The pipes are long shut, the pools have run dry, and every chamber between the water and the newts is held by a brass pin.
Pull brass pins in the right order to fill the newt's pool. Lava cools to stone on water, and every pin you pull fits any empty slot.
How to play Bodkin Pull the Pin
Each level is a cutaway of chambers held apart by brass pins. Tap or click a pin to pull it, and whatever rests on it flows or falls. Fill the newt's pool up to the dashed line to clear the level, and keep lava, flames, marsh gas and boulders away from the newt. Lava that lands on water turns to stone, so water usually has to go first. Every pin you pull goes into your pocket, and you can set it into any empty slot to close a drain, hold back a boulder or switch which way a channel runs. Grates swallow water, lava and pearls, but sand clogs them. A few levels ask you to set a pin or turn a drum while something is still falling. Pearls that reach the pool before it fills earn stars.

Features
36 levels in six places
The Cistern, Sandstone Quarry, Old Mine, Frost Cellar, Fen Gasworks and Clock Mill hold six levels each, and each place adds sand, boulders, ice, marsh gas or turning drums.
Every pulled pin fits an empty slot
Pins go into your pocket when you pull them. Set one into an empty slot to close a drain, stop a boulder or move a gate, and pull it again to use it somewhere else.
Water, lava, stone and sand
Water pours and settles, lava creeps and cools to stone where it meets water, sand heaps up and clogs grates, and pearls roll along with the current.
Orders that need thought
Later levels take five to ten moves in a set order, and a few need a pin set or a drum turned while something is still falling.
Pearls for stars
Clear a level for one star. Bring half of its pearls into the pool for two, and 90% for three.
Hard mode and a daily puzzle
Clearing The Cistern opens hard mode, where a level counts only with 90% of its pearls in the pool. The daily puzzle is a later level, sometimes mirrored, scored against the day's players.
Tips
- Before you pull anything, follow where each chamber would flow and what it would meet on the way.
- Lava that lands on water turns to stone, and a stone crust stays put when the water under it runs away.
- A pin you do not need where it is can close a drain somewhere else: pull it and set it in the empty slot.
- The level ends as soon as the pool fills, so send the pearls down before the last of the water.
- Sand clogs a grate, so drop the sand before anything you want to keep reaches it.
Frequently asked questions
Why did the newt get hurt when I pulled the lava pin?
Lava that reaches the newt ends the level. Lava that lands on water turns to stone, so in most levels the water has to reach the pool first.
What is the pocket?
Every pin you pull goes into your pocket. Tap an empty slot, shown as a dashed outline, to set a pin from your pocket into it.
Can I take back a move?
Yes. Undo takes back your last pull, set or turn, as many times as you like, and Retry starts the level again.
Do I need fast fingers?
Almost never. A handful of levels ask you to set a pin or turn a drum while a boulder or sand is still falling, with about half a second to do it.
Is every level solvable?
Yes. Every level can be cleared with all three stars, in normal mode and in hard mode.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Opened levels, stars and best scores stay on this device, and the site's device sync can move them to another one.
