About Sorrel Word Wheel
Sorrel is a walled garden kept by its words. Each bed, glasshouse and orchard row has a crossword waiting to be filled from a handful of letters, and every extra word you know drops another seed in the jar.
Swipe the letters on a wooden wheel to fill a small crossword. Extra words you know earn seeds that pay for hints. 280 levels in seven gardens.
How to play Sorrel Word Wheel
Swipe across the letters on the wheel to spell a word, then let go. If it is in the crossword it fills its cells; if it is a real word that is not in the grid, it is a bonus word and earns seeds. Swiping back over the last letter takes it off. You can also tap letters one by one and tap the middle of the wheel, or type the word on a keyboard and press Enter. Seeds pay for help: Letter shows one letter of a word, Word fills a whole word, and Sweep shows a letter of every open word. Tap a grid word first to choose which one gets the help. Longer bonus words earn more seeds. Each chapter adds a rule: seed cells that pay when filled, words hidden in the mist, ripe words worth double before their fruit drops, two wheels, a star tile that stands for any letter in grid words, and seven-letter wheels at the end.

Features
280 levels in seven chapters
Kitchen Garden, Glasshouse, Millpond, Orchard, Lantern Market, Observatory and Frost Garden: forty levels each, every chapter with its own scene and its own rule.
Bonus words pay for hints
A real word that is not in the grid earns seeds by its length. Seeds buy a letter, a whole word or a letter in every open word, so a big vocabulary never gets stuck.
A new rule every chapter
Seed cells, words hidden in the mist, ripe words that score double before their fruit drops, two wheels at once, a star tile that is any letter, and seven-letter wheels.
Daily wheel and hard mode
One six-letter wheel a day, the same for every player, scored against everyone who played it. Hard mode adds a letter to every wheel and doubles the price of help.
Word race with a friend
Both players get the same wheel and grid. The first to spell a grid word claims it in their colour, bonus words add points, and the race ends when the grid is full.
Tips
- Spell every real word you can see, not only the ones the grid seems to want: each bonus word earns seeds, and a word of five letters or more earns more than one.
- Look for the word that uses every letter of the wheel first: it is always in the grid and its letters fill many crossings.
- Grid words found within six seconds of each other build a streak that multiplies their points up to four times.
- In the Orchard, find the words with a fruit on them first: before the ring runs out they score double and pay three extra seeds.
- Save Sweep for a big grid: it shows one letter in every open word at once, which is often enough to read the rest.
Frequently asked questions
What is a bonus word?
A real word you spell on the wheel that is not in the crossword. It earns seeds: one for three or four letters, two for five, three for six and four for seven.
How do I take back a letter?
While swiping, move back over the letter you picked last and it comes off. When tapping or typing, tap the last letter again or press Backspace.
Why did a word with the star tile not count as a bonus word?
In the Observatory the star tile stands for any letter, but only for grid words. Bonus words there must be spelled with the other letters.
How do I open the next chapter?
Solve 20 levels of a chapter and the next one opens. You can keep playing the rest of the earlier chapter whenever you like.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Solved levels, your seeds and today's daily wheel stay on this device, and the site's device sync can move them to another one.
How does the word race work?
Choose Play with a friend, pick five, six or seven letters and send the link. You both get the same wheel and grid; a grid word belongs to whoever spells it first, bonus words score for each player separately, and after three minutes or a full grid the higher score wins.
